Policies and General Information
All Students are Welcome! - Whether your child is outgoing or reserved, he/she will love our acting classes. Quiet children find a place where it is safe to be heard and more outgoing children find an outlet for their creativity. Students are expected to be respectful of each other and be ready to work together as we explore our creativity. </p> <p>Class Content and Last Day Showcase - Our acting classes are process-oriented, with a focus on giving students the positive experience of creating and performing theater -- not on rehearsing elaborate plays or musicals. Students will have a chance to perform for an audience when parents, family members, and friends are invited to attend the final class for a showcase of the exercises and activities that the students have been learning. Sometimes, to prepare for the showcase, students may need to practice or review exercises at home in-between classes; this is intended to be a fun and non-stressful activity for your child and the family.</p> <p>Getting to the Class - All classes are held within the school building unless otherwise noted. Parents of younger or forgetful children may wish to send a reminder with the child. We are not responsible for getting your child to the class. Our Teaching Artists arrive early and stay until all students have been picked up.</p> <p>Late Pick-ups - Please be on time to pick up your child. Meet him/her in the room at the end of class. If you are more than five minutes late, we will issue a warning. If it happens a second time, you will be notified and your student will be un-enrolled without a refund. Our teaching artists are theater professionals who often have other classes or rehearsals after the Young Imagination Makers classes. </p> <p>Class Conduct - Great actors are patient, kind, and follow directions. We are protective of the class environment and the experience of each student and will un-enroll students who are repeatedly disruptive. The first time a student seriously disrupts class, a formal warning will be issued; the second time, you will be notified and your student will be un-enrolled without a refund. If your student has difficulty following directions or focusing, he/she may not be ready yet for our theater class. Call our office if you have questions or concerns. </p> <p>Parent Observation – Although we discourage “observers” (it can create performance anxiety in some students), our door is always open and we invite you to arrive 10 minutes before class ends. You may observe your student during that time. </p> <p>What to Bring to Class – Students should wear comfortable clothes. Please also bring a water bottle.
